A little fanart I did of the insanely convoluted NES action RPG, Deadly Towers. Though much maligned, I actually REALLY enjoyed Deadly Towers once I wrapped my head around it's structure, which is as much like an 8-bit Dark Souls as I think was ever done on the NES.
For all it's flaws, Deadly Towers brings alot to the table for such an early game including a huge game world that scales the difficulty to match your progress, totally nonlinear structure that lets you challenge the game's seven towers in any order, giant bosses with bizarre designs, RPG style equipment and upgrades, and secrets out the ass.
Deadly Towers was developed by the now defunct Lenar, who later refined their action rpg formula with the much more streamlined Gunman's Proof, which I've talked about before. Check out my Gunman's Proof piece as well! [link]
