Wanted this to look a bit like old horror/adventure titles, like the super famicom clock tower. The characters came out a bit more squat than I intended, but ultimately I like the way it turned out.
Sorry, it sounds like I'm disagreeing with your last point. Demakes can be quite interesting.
I really liked the controls for exploration, less so during the chase scenes I guess. I always like the Wii remote as flashlight thing.
But yeah, the atmosphere was the real accomplishment there.
Deadly Premonition was definitely something I initially only appreciated as a novelty. Once I really got involved in the game, though... it's crazy, but it actually manages to get you invested. There's so much game to love beneath the surface there.
It's also probably the only game to attempt a gameplay mashup of Resident Evil and Legend of Zelda.
Also, it got me into Twin Peaks.
